The most important thing you can do is to know yourself properly. When you don’t know yourself, nothing in your life has the right definition.
The way of life, perspective, understanding of other human beings and creatures – none of these things can ever be right.
The more unaware a person is, the more unpleasant the outcome will be, whether it is fear, sadness, anger, frustration, loneliness possibly all of these.
Self-knowledge naturally leads to cosmology and theosophy. Embracing these makes people realize they are a small part of a whole, and that they are not alone or forgotten.
Rumi, one of the greatest mystics, and Sufi, a writer of the 13th century, wrote a poem that reads: The Universe is Not Outside of You; Look Inside Yourself; Everything You Want, You Already Are……
We all seek happiness and tranquility.
Many of us believe that if we travel by private jet, stay in the most expensive hotels, order the most expensive food and drinks in the most stylish restaurants, or drive a luxury car, this will definitely make us happy.
Having such a lifestyle is not all bad, but Rumi wisely taught that this lifestyle would not guarantee happiness and peace.
Peace and happiness have been with us from birth; we only need to discover them. Once we do discover them, we will experience the most beautiful feeling in the world. A feeling that can just as easily be found while sitting quietly by the window with a cup of tea . It’s all inside of us. “We are the happiness; we just need to find it.”
The answer to all your questions lies within you. It’s like being in a dark room. The experience you get from touching objects in that room is completely different from what you realize after the light is turned on. This light is the awareness that Rumi and other mystics have talked about.
So, when questions like “Who am I?” and “What am I doing here?” come to mind, please do not run away. Seek answers to these questions. Do not give up until you find the right answers. You must believe that finding the answers will significantly affect all aspects of your life: your physical health, your mental health, your personal life, your social life, even your personal finances. It is well worth the effort.
